Sparkling water. So hot right now. When US drinking preferences moved sharply away from sugar (#NoCarbsTilCoachella), soda sales took a nose-dive – and in the past 5 years, US seltzer sales have grown by 42%. Sparkling water went from a suburban mom drink to the trendiest drink on the beach. LaCroix anyone?
Smirnoff stepped in and did what we all needed them to do – add alcohol to the situation. Their new drink is called Spiked Sparkling Seltzer – and comes in cranberry lime, watermelon, and orange mango. A Premium Malt Beverage, it contains 4.5% alcohol, about the same as light beer. A far cry from the Smirnoff Ice, the Smirnoff Seltzer isn’t too sweet or overpowering. I tried a few after a crushing spin class, and found the drink light, crisp, and refreshing.
